Detroit, Michigan, Monday, August 23, 1937

In researching a story that took place (or at least was written in the present tense) in 1937, I bought on eBay a Detroit newspaper from that year.

I'm fascinated by the past -- I love to see how attitudes have changed (or not), what popular things have faded into obscurity, etc. -- but often feel like the past is seen as static events, with no past and no future. These events are seen as inevitable conclusions to a series of steps.

It's my goal to explore the past, present and future of Detroit on Monday, August 23, 1937, as depicted in the Red Line edition of the Detroit Times.
